We spent the last week in the mountains of northwest Vietnam. We first visited a town Moc Chau. It felt lively with a big road passing through that goes all the way from Laos to Hanoi. It rained A LOT, but the rain did not effect the beautiful views. In Moc Chau, we went to a bat cave and it had a lot of stalactites and stalagmites, some of which were twice as tall as dad. There were also Buddhist shrines in the bat cave. It smelled pretty funky, too.
In Mai Chau (the names are very similar), there were all of these mountains towering above you. Every building felt like it was either a restaurant, a spa, or a homestay. Some of the land was covered in buildings but that was only a fraction of the rice paddies. While Anne was doing a practice test for school, dad sent Jane and I to go and find the best smoothie in the valley. Jane and I had to bushwhack because we were too scared of the water buffaloes that were blocking the main road. The little trail that we took quickly turned into a bunch of muddy mush. The views were amazing even if our feet and legs were muddy. Jane and I think that we trespassed through about five farms.

How were the smoothies? And what game is your family playing in the picture? How big are the water buffalo? You are going to have a lot of stories to share when you return!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading! The smoothies were great. My favorite flavor was passionfruit. And in the picture, we were playing Phase 10 but with regular cards. There were actually two water buffalos, and they were both very big - much bigger than a cow.
