We arrived in India on Saturday, November 29. The next morning it was interesting to see Indian culture up close: motorcycles honking, traditional dresses called saris, and delicious smelling street food.
The highlights in Delhi included riding on rickshaws through the clothing market, touring through the kitchen of the Sikh temple called Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, and seeing where Gandhi took his last steps before he was assassinated. Unfortunately, you can see the pollution in the air, which is scary. Delhi had the worst pollution in the world on the day that we visited.
The next day we visited Agra, which is most famous for the Red Fort and the Taj Mahal. I liked the Taj Mahal because our guide knew exactly where to take the best photos and we arrived 5:45 am so that we could get there before the crowds. The stone in-lay inside the mausoleum was breathtaking.
After that we visited Jaipur: snake charmers, more pretty dresses, cool palaces, and block printing textiles.
I am now writing this in Pushkar, famous for its holy lake that was made by a lotus petal falling from Brahma. You constantly hear the prayers, drums, and singing of the pilgrims. Our hotel has a rooftop with a great view of the sunset going over the holy lake.
Overall, in my opinion the food here is amazing and the people are so friendly.
