We've had a full week in Cusco now, and the combination of ruins, random festivals, and a charming old town has been enchanting.
On our third day here, we took a trip about an hour outside of town to visit Tipon, a less-visited Incan archaeological site with impressive water channels.
In addition to keeping up with math homework, the girls have been enjoying research outings with Wade as they work on their Peru projects.
Saturday was the feast of Santa Rosa, and Eliza and I stumbled on a parade through old town.
And on Sunday, there was a celebration of Inti Rami and Incan culture featuring hundreds of local kids at Qoricancha (the site of the holiest sun temple, which was the center of the Incan empire).
We'll be in Cusco for one more week - wrapping up projects, wandering around random neighborhoods in Cusco, and continuing to get adjusted to the altitude - before we head off on a 4 day trek through the Lares Valley and to Machu Picchu.
